Landscape Architect Matthew Biron Brings Island Vibes to Suburban Connecticut

Weston, CT – Hoffman Landscapes is proud to announce they have been selected as a 2022 Awards of Excellence – Silver Award recipient by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

The award-winning project was designed by landscape architect Matthew Biron, built by Hoffman’s talented crew of in-house craftsmen led by construction manager Kevin Begnal and masonry foreman Brendan Begnal, and maintained by Hoffman’s dedicated property care team.

“There is a lot of artistry that goes into our work,” said Brendan Begnal. “The rock work on this particular project was no exception. Each of the locally-sourced boulders we used for the grotto environment was hand-selected. I worked very closely with the homeowner to make sure our execution of Matt’s design matched his vision.”

In order to bring an island-type feeling to this Fairfield County residence, Biron’s design incorporated tropical plant materials for bright pops of color throughout the space. The project also features a water slide and a waterfall feature that cascades over the entrance to the grotto’s hidden spa area.

“This was an exciting project for one of the company’s long-time clients,” said Biron, whose design took the homeowner’s existing pool area and transformed it into a complete tropical resort-style environment. “They had just purchased a new home and wanted to create an outdoor space that they would be able to enjoy with not just their children, but eventually their children’s children and future generations. That’s my favorite part about my job – creating these environments for people to delight in for years and years to come.”

Each year, the National Association Landscape Professionals Awards of Excellence recognizes exceptional commercial and residential lawn care and landscape installation, maintenance, and design projects from around the nation. This year 182 awards were bestowed to companies for their outstanding work. This project was also selected as a Design Innovator Award winner in the Fall 2022 issue of Serendipity Magazine.
